The graph below shows the results of CE testing of a well known rebreather and shows how sorb performance varies significantly with depth. This rebreather, advertised as a three-hour canister, shows that the same unit only functions for 20 minutes at a depth of 100 meters. It is important that you inquire about how well your canister will perform at extreme depths. Although the diver will gain advantage as they ascend, it begs to question what could result if the diver is forced to deal with a significant workload late in their bottom time.
Check out third party tests for your rebreather by contacting the manufacturer. If they don't provide the data, ask them why, and then carefully consider whether you want to bet your life on their technology. Jill Heinerth (Click to enlarge)
