We have been extremely busy with classes and DEMA prep this week. We also have a cool new media project that we will unveil this month--stay tuned. In the meantime, let's catch up on some "ASK JILL" email questions from aspiring RebreatherPros. --Jill Heinerth
3. I have been looking at the Ambient Pressure line just because they seem to be the most popular, but just like everything else in diving, how do I choose the right one for me?
Ambient Pressure has sold more than anyone else, but it is because they have been in the game the longest and survived. There is merit to that, but I would also look at Optima, Megalodon, Hammerhead, Sentinal, etc. and compare features, safety records, instructors, etc. Read everything you can on the lists. Ask for as many opinions as possible and review the manufacturers sites.
4. Should I get the rebreather training prior to purchase? I don't see how this would help me in the decision in purchase, but it was brought up.
You will love whatever you dive on first. You can't even make a fair comparison to other units until you have some dives under your belt. Additionally, few instructors will offer to teach someone that does not own their rig.
